This book is just wow!
***Warning this book is for 18+ - adults only!***
From the start to finish there is action to draw you into the world of these characters. We begin with meeting the main character as her younger self and straight away we get introduced to her biggest quality and asset, which can also be seen as some as a struggle that she may have to embrace being an albino woman. We are then transported into whole world of the struggles, dealing with bullying and the lack of understanding, of the feeling that you are an animal in a cage, and everyone is looking in at you because the only difference there is from you and them is your Albinism.
This book allows us to take the view of someone on the opposite side within our own community struggling with issues of colourism and ignorance of the unknown, misrepresenting what it means to be different and unearthing idea of not being black enough. However, in saying this we can learn a lot from this story, through Winter’s journey of becoming an opera singer and her ability to see beauty where others may judge a book by its cover.
The introduction of her beast or Yuri is phenomenal. His story is sad, at its core, very disheartening and tragic, but it eventually has you cheering for him as his journey slowly fills you with joy, he has at least survived this cruel upbringing. The moment he kidnaps her you are screaming to yourself thinking surely not, surely this is a ploy or a mirage or dream and not really happening to Winter. Unfortunately, it is real, and he has been brainwashed enough to have loyalty in his saviour as the one to always answer to. As a reader I struggled to understand how these two characters are going to become involved and create this epic love story, that is until the dynamics change where you are transported into the sex club. Talk about…intriguing and stimulating!!!
For me personally, I did not realise how intricate these places can be. The level of exclusivity, and openness to being an exhibitionist really takes you on a sexual journey of through Winter’s experiences, understanding and forced exploration of her own sexuality. The graphical descriptions her encounters just blown my mind and I am glad there was a warning prior to starting to read this book. Damn! you need the warning because steamy, hot and erotic, does not cut it. It is not for the faint of hearted, it is not for anyone who is going to struggle on a moral or ethical stance that the simple act of withholding an orgasm can be somewhat intrusive to the other person.
I absolutely love this book, it takes you out of your comfort zone and throws you right into that frying pan full of fire, full of lust, full of melt watering, intense and wicked visions and imaginations of the acts taking place. This book just keeps giving you more and achingly so. I mean who would not want more of this sophisticated story and the characters within it, that are ever changing. Winter really drives the story as she is the pinnacle character that we fall in love with, we root for her and then we root for her finding her own sexuality and that all important love and freedom.
It could be even titled a caged bird because of how cage Winter constantly was, until at the end she decides to take her own sexuality, pleasure and desires back to make it her own experience. Giving her this beautiful empowering moment that leaves you proud of her growth. Even when she was down and out, she still refused to give into her own desires and needs just to get by. Finally, I love the ending, only thing I wish it was longer, as I was loving the authors writing and plot and character development and I cannot wait to read another thought provoking hot an enticing story by the author.
Let me know what you think readers!
Happy Reading!!!
