The Gatekeeper by K. Alex Walker

This week I wanted to try something new and a new author, upon by search I found this book by K. Alex Walker, and I was not disappointed. This book felt like a slow burn. Sometimes with paranormal romances there is an exceptional amount of detail needed to set the scene and allow the reader to keep abreast of the world created by the author. It allows the readers to gain some understand of the lay of the land and feel some attachment to the characters within this paranormal world.

Chief Mataio Tauati, is dynamic and such and interesting hero to our heroine, they both appear to be an unlikely coupling. Mataio is no other than a God in his world and by his words the strongest, because of his ancestral lineage as Lord of the Underworld. The idea of this tough God needing this simple archaeologist, to fulfil the prophecy and be the reason for his heart to start finally beating.

This was a continuously developing story. I really liked the intricate paranormal history and plot. The characters really grew as your attachment to them did throughout the story. The layers you were able to peel away after each chapter to keep you guessing on how the story was going to end. This book had me guessing and looking forward to the very next words, chapter and sentence. It made you feel immersed in the characters world routing for them and waiting for the changes to persuade you one way or the other. The imagery that I was able to draw from the authors words made me feel as though as there on one of the Polynesian Islands, watching the main characters story enfold. It is a book about love, sacrifice and doing what is right even if it may kill you.

Although the ending is always expected to a happy one the journey there was absolutely nail biting and nerve racking to figuring out how this story unfolds. I would recommend, this book for an elaborate and nail biting, onion layered paranormal romance story that leaves you clinging to the hero just wishing it all works out in the end.

Happy Reading Readers!!!
