When I saw this book by Sienna Mynx, I could not wait to sink my teeth into it. Having read some of her previous literature, the excitement for this one was palpable, so here I go, downloaded it to the kindle and off I started to read.
You are immediately thrown into an exciting car chase and a runaway victim. However, this was only just the beginning of the book, which increases the curiosity of how this chase came to be. As the novel progresses, it takes us back to where it all began by introducing us to Goodiva and her relationship struggles with who she is and who she wanted to be and what she wanted from her partner.
I must admit that there was a lot of gaps, throughout the story, that kept you guessing and waiting to find out why certain decisions were being made. Jaxon's and Goodiva's relationship was full of twists and turns, some half-truths and some toxic bits, but how Sienna wrote it, made you root for these lost loves to find themselves and work things out.
This book to me sometimes felt like the main character had Stockholm syndrome, was she really that in love that she would put up with so much? Did she not see what was really happening? Can that type of intense love be so submissive? Questions I would like to ask her but even her friends still could not understand but is that because they themselves were such enablers and that they had their own issues to deal with? My big question though is, is the love between the two characters worth it?
Even with all the unanswered questions, I read this book like I was waiting for my next meal. It was a slow start but once you sink your teeth into their love story it was hard putting my kindle down. I read until I got to the very end and even then I just wanted so much more. Happy to say we get more of this story but from a different angle by the continuation through Goodiva's friends with the next instalment of the series.
So, if you are someone who is constantly looking for twists and turns in romance books, and looking for complicated and layered characters, give this book a good read, it may very well surprise you!!
Happy reading!!!
