Oops! by Alexandra Warren

This was my first time reading a book from Alexandra Warren and a first dive into her style of writing and content that she produces. So here goes...

The beginning of this book introduces us to the main character and starts an intriguing and fresh dialogue into her life and that of the other characters around her. It is a different start from most of the romance books I have read but I commend Alexandra, thanks for keeping us on our toes straight from chapter 1.

As you keep reading, you are immediately introduced to the love interest, although, it is more of a love-hate relationship between both characters, you can sense that it is only because the main character Camryn is only hiding her true feelings for Maverick, by showing animosity or lack of interest rather than embracing how she truly feels. My one critic will be that I wish there were more of a build-up and a back and forth between these two characters. Only to give a deeper connection for the readers, and an invested Oops! moment to be additionally enticing.

I must say it was nice to read a book with modern urban language and slang, which is woven into the book, creating a relatable bubble for the young adults range and those of us millennial's who increasingly had to navigate the merging era of social media and the trolls that come with surfing the net and putting any bit of personal information out there to share. It also had a modern take on men becoming fathers, even with the limitations of not having great father figures throughout their childhood and learning from their lack of presence to becoming a better version or rather an upgrade for that they could not be.

While I wanted so much more comprehension with these characters, it was a well-written book for the modern reader, the young adult getting into reading romances and now getting their feet wet in the genre. It was such a sweet ending with a potential Oops! 2 in the works. To end, the growth and feelings expressed on the male side was excellent and it shows a break in the mould on how these types of characters are sometimes portrayed in today's literature society. It gave a positive and insightful spin on how men are portrayed in romance novels and their character development. This is a book that was as much a palette cleanser as it was a good read.

I would recommend for young adults, now getting indicting in the avid romance readers book clubs.

Happy Reading!!!!
